Closing Time

With the year coming to an end and 2012 literally over the horizon, I think a recap of 2011 is in order.

Friends?  Still got them, plus some more.  Check.
Family?  Still here, still on good terms.  Double check. :)
Personal style?  I like where it's going.  Check.
Music?  Changing my preferences a bit, but all for the better.  Check.

Academics?  Not doing as well as they should be.  X
Future?  Still freaking out about that.  Have ideas, but nothing definite yet.  X

More positives than negatives?  That's good and all, but 'quality over quantity,' aka, I..need..to study more.

From me and the always dynamic duo, Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, wishing everyone a happy new year!  :)

Happiness is..

With Christmas over, I'm pleasantly surprised as to how everything turned out and I hope yours was enjoyable too.  My family had Christmas Eve at our aunt's house.  Some family friends came and it was really nice seeing them.  You can't really go wrong with good people and good food.

Our family has a fairly twisted tradition regarding presents.  The way we've been raised, it's always been easier not to ask for much, if anything, for Christmas.  But our relatives always give us some money and our parents always re-wrap something we already own, a box of hot chocolate or an empty box, with the money inside.  So upon opening it, it's confusion when we see something completely random, until we look further of course.  It's a bit of an odd tradition.

In addition, my sister and I attempted to be a bit more creative with our presents this year.

my mother cutting the cake we baked her, with a $50 hidden gift card inside

my brother, listening to the 26-line poem I wrote for him (we got him a code for some computer game he's playing, but I wanted to make it more interesting/suspenseful)

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Day is finally here and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.  But the real reason for this post is that Cameron Mitchell (Glee Project contestant and overall amazing singer/songwriter) came out with an original this past week.  It's called "All My Love" and it's just beautiful.

Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, take the holiday season to spend it with the ones you love.  Corny, I know, but you'll thank me later.  :)

Winter Solstice

Only a few more days until Christmas and while this break hasn't amounted to much yet, that's alright.  I have a feeling that the rest of break will be fun.  But in the meantime, happy holidays and new year to everyone!
