Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I've been at home less than a week and already I've seen more people than I thought I would.  It's so incredibly relaxing to have a month of free time and absolutely no schoolwork to do.

I'd say this was a typical Christmas; it all somehow came together at the last minutes.  Good times, good food, and another poem written by yours truly.

Carefully opening my present.

My sister thought it would be hilarious to give me a copy of the US Constitution and of course, I did a short dramatic reading from it.

Overall, I think this Christmas went well.  I love my family and time spent together is always better than material things.

I'll Be Home for Christmas..

Another stressful semester over, family time and lots of lounging around to look forward to.  I'm quite proud of myself for taking the time this semester to use my CW mug for cider and hot chocolate, actually being able to releax and do fun things (like concerts), and not go crazy with schoolwork.  However, my GPA may not have appreciated that last one.

But I am definitely ready to go home.  Plans for the break include: cleaning my room (of course), baking with family, and being super crafty with all my free time.  Expect many blog posts in the near future!

While I spend the last few hours on campus before I take the bus home, I'm listening to this new band.  New to me, that is.  They're called the Generationals and they just have a cool sound.

Stitches in Time

I've decided what I want for Christmas.  And putting it in print will solidify my desires, I feel.  I want...a sewing machine.  Nothing new, nothing shiny.  Just a working sewing machine.  My grandmother has one, and I may even ask if I can have that one.

I've been wanting a real hobby for a while now.  My roommate knits and I was thinking of starting because I love all of the cozy, winter things that can be knit.  Whether or not I actually obtain a sewing machine, I'm probably going to sew/make some skirts and scarves over the winter break.  There must be something in the winter air that makes me go to my creative place.  Any project ideas?

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, off to keep studying the dreaded PChem.  It's finals week for the next week and a half and I. am. scared.  It's beyond stressed or worry, it's now fear.  I just hope all goes well, and I still have another scintillating semester of PChem II in the spring.  Wish me luck!

Time to break out the candy cane earrings

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mec1xnnHLe1rwsnxro1_500.jpg

It's getting dangerously close to the end of the semester and it's almost the "freaking out about finals" time, but I'm also trying to make the most of winter in Williamsburg.  My friends and I made gingerbread cookies from scratch last night and tomorrow night is Grand Illumination, which means fireworks to welcome in the beginning of winter.  :)  And of course, hot chocolate and Christmas movies are a definite must.

In the meantime, I need to get myself a cozy holiday sweater (and in the meantime, forget that it's 60 degrees this week).  It'll be perfect for late night study sessions and lounging around the house.

I'm thankful for...

I can't believe it's been three weeks since my last post.  But I've been doing well; it's been a good balance of schoolwork and having fun.

In addition to it being Thanksgiving weekend this past weekend, it was always (as usual) my brother's birthday during the break.  He's not a big fan of pictures as I've mentioned, but that reallyy doesn't stop me.  Anyway, I'm not home much, so I'm allowed to bug him a bit when I am home.  Anyway, he's now got his computer in my room.

Minecraft!

We went to a Vietnamese restaurant near our house for lunch.  My sister got bánh xèo and it was delicious.

My mom wasn't feeling well over the break, so she got phở, which was also delicious.  As you might have guessed, I may have been mooching.  :)

I'm not sure what's going on here, seems like some sort of head patting.  But I love this area; it's one of the only places I know where you can find the South Vietnamese flag flying proud.  I love it.  And the food and shops are just so incredibly authentic; it's hard for me to go here with friends because I don't speak Vietnamese.  But I of course don't let that stop me.

And last but certainly not least, I mayy have been withholding a bit of information for the past few weeks.  My roommate and I bought tickets to an Of Monsters and Men concert that was Monday night.  Which was definitely the best concert I've been to so far.  This school year will be the year for amazing concerts.

It's Monday..time for a music post

As the title implies, this is gonna be another music post.  It's been a few days since my last post and since then, I've begin to listen to this indie rock band, Imagine Dragons.  I'm not even sure if I'm late getting on this bandwagon, but nevertheless, they are amazing.  Kinda my new obsession.

Happy Halloween

I know it's a bit of overkill, posting two days in a row, but I had to.  It was a perfectly brisk, fall day today and I made a quick cider run in CW before the hours and hours of work and studying I'll be doing for the rest of the week.  Here are some pictures from today:

Flowers :)

Incredibly vibrant tree I came across in CW

Not a black cat, but the pose makes up for it.

Spotted: cows!

Peanut Shoppe: Spiced Maple Pumpkin Dip and animal crackers

Display in the Peanut Shoppe

And of course I had to go into the Candy Shop

Where's the candy corn?!  I was slightly disappointed; three different stores and nowhere to buy bulk candy corn.

Satchel from ClubCouture; it came in the mail earlier last week.  The two of us have been attached at the hip...literally, since I got it.

Lace skirt from target, gray top from Forever 21, scarf from Burlington.

You say "to-ma-to", I say "to-mah-to"

When I first started seeing the oxblood trend on Lookbook, pinterst, and other fashion media, I was a bit confused.  Oxblood...maroon...crimson, it's all the same to me, and it wasn't really anything new.  Nevertheless, it's still an autumn favorite.

Looking through my recent lookbook hypes, I didn't realize how many looks I'd hyped that had oxblood.  The first one is definitely my favorite.

Hark Upon the Gale

More families than usual walking around campus and a weekend full of events?  It must be Homecoming Weekend.  :)

Seeing all of the alum, those I know and those who were here long before I was even born, makes me anticipate and dread the inevitable day when I'll no longer be a student here.  It's incredibly frightening to have to think about life after college, but I'll be alright.  Can't stay in school forever.

Our Alma Mater:
Hark! the students' voices swelling
Strong and true and clear.
Alma Mater's love they're telling,
Ringing far and near.

William and Mary loved of old
Hark upon the gale,
Hear the thunder of our chorus
Alma Mater - Hail.

All thy sons are faithful to thee,
Through their College days,
Singing loud from hearts that love thee,
Alma Mater's praise.

Iron-shod or golden-sandaled
Shall the years go by
Yet our hearts shall weave about thee
Love that cannot die.

God, our Father, hear our voices
Listen to our cry;
Bless the College of our fathers,
Let her never die.

A montage of pictures covering my day walking around Old Town with my sister.

Tapas restaurant.  Just makes me think about how I want to make paella.  :)

I love the different colors of the row houses.  I'm going to end up living in a row house..it's gonna happen.

 Spotted the beginnings of fall.

Happy Birthday, Mother!

It seems like every other week I'm posting about a birthday.  But it was my mother's birthday yesterday, so I have to write something.

And by write something, I mean post pictures.  :)  So here are some semi-rare happy pictures of my mom.

Can't wait to be home tomorrow!  A much needed break to hang out with family and...do homework in the comfort of my own house.
