Congratulations are definitely in order

Today is a day that comes once a year and goes overlooked far too often.  Not only is today my sister's birthday, but it's also my parents' 25th wedding anniversary.  :)

My sister makes everything look easy.  Seriously, graduating from a great school with "Highest Honors", getting multiple job offers in a time where the job market isn't giving them out to everyone, all while keeping her sanity.  I can barely get through Physical Chemistry lab without wanting to cry (I'm being completely serious here, second week in a row.  Ahh, the dreaded PChem.)

And now my parents.  My parents really are my heroes.  I cannot even imagine going through what they did to get here and to get to where they are today.  Also, I guess it's true what they say, opposites attract.  My dad's the goofy, crazy one and my mom is the sensible, serious one.  Ask anyone, they'll agree.  25 years and still going strong.

I'm bummed that I can't be home to celebrate with my family, but it's only a few more weeks until the nearest break.

Happy autumn!

Fall is, hands-down, my favorite season.  The weather is perfect, the leaves are changing, and there's just enough cool breeze in the air to leave the tips of your ears chilly.

Obligatory pictures of campus during the fall coming soon.

Too many of these pictures are from  You would really be missing out if you didn't check it out.

Easy on the Eyes

Three weeks into the school year and I'm glad I decided to spend less time..and money on the dining halls and a meal plan.  A roundabout way of forcing myself to make my own food, haha.  I haven't actually cooked too much yet, but it's definitely a goal for this year.

Also, I came across the blog, Sprouted Kitchen, a few days ago.  It's a food blog geared mainly toward whole foods recipes.  One of the things that struck me most was the gorgeous photography.  The quinoa recipe below is something I definitely want to try, maybe with a few adjustments.

"Brown paper packages tied up with strings..."

Another week has just flown by.  I have no time for anything!  I like my classes a lot, and my labs less so, but by the end of the week, I. am. tired.

So here's a quick post with some pictures I've come across.  Cozy sweaters and socks (not to mention pretty sweet shoes); things that make me happy.  Also slightly autumn-themed because I've already broken out my tights.  :)

"Open my eyes, I see sky"

This afternoon, the weather gods decided to present the campus with a taste of fall weather.  The sun was shining, there was a cool breeze blowing, and the campus was absolutely gorgeous.  This sounds weird, but I was soo distracted by the weather.  I couldn't hold conversations without commenting on the weather and there was no chance of my doing work outdoors.

But that's precisely what my friends and I decided to do; do some schoolwork outside.  Suffice it to say, we ended up just talking and hanging out for two hours.  However, I am beyond ready to say goodbye to summer weather.

I'm definitely at that point in my fashion..timeline where I opt for loose, draped silhouettes.  I'm not really trying to hide anything, but I just feel better in a loose sweater or top.  And tights, definitely tights.

Above looks can be found on my Pinterest.  :)

"It's a luscious mix of words and tricks..."

Classes are just beginning and while the workload is pretty light right now, I definitely will be a ticking time bomb of crazy soon enough.  Coming to the sad realization that school comes first this semester, I had to stop my attempts at doing guard this semester.  School first, and sanity's a close second.

I will do my best to keep distractions to a minimum though.  As my IA professor said on the first day of class, "For those of you taking PChem and IA, this is not a good semester to get sick.  Or fall in love."  Well said, professor.

Quick band spotlight for this post, The Shins.  In addition to The Kooks, The Shins were a staple of my summer playlist.  Enjoy a few of my favorites.  :)
