Spotlight Fall Showcase

Last Sunday was Spotlight's Fall Showcase.  As I've probably mentioned, I was choreographer again this semester and had a blast choreographing the show this semester.  What I had the most fun choreographing, however, was Lady Gaga's "Applause".  It was just so much fun and had me tape into the more hip-hop side of my dancer self.  Needless to say, it was great.

Lion King medley costumes.

A-R-T-P-O-P.  My Applause monsters.  Romwe leggings...gotta love 'em.

This is my sixth semester in Spotlight and oftentimes this semester found me reminiscing about old semesters and the people I wouldn't have met if it weren't for Spotlight.  Ahh, senior year.

Halloween 2013

This year's Halloween was filled with firsts.  A group of friends and I finally trick-or-treated the President of The College, photo documentation and all.  As you can see, I was the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.  Fitting for the blog, don't you think?

This weekend, I also attended a party fit for autumn and the eerie holiday.  The house was on a tiny street off the highway, surrounded with complete darkness.  We had spaghetti squash, sangria, and s'mores...pardon my alliteration.

Now that the Halloween's over and the fall temperature has once again joined us, I've only got a few more semi-stressful weeks until I get to go back home.  :)

"And I'll be yours until the sun no longer shines"

My Valentine's Day has been postponed to tomorrow.  I had an extremely busy day today, so the festivities will have to wait until tomorrow.  My friends and I are making pizzas in the evening and I'm making chocolate covered strawberries and hanging out with a friend hopefully later in the evening.

Valentine's Day at Spotlight Rehearsal!

Gifs are so much fun to make!  And super easy too.  :)

I hope everyone, whether or not you have a significant other, celebrated Valentine's Day.  At the least, I hope you'll take advantage of the candy and chocolate sales tomorrow!  :)

"And please, say to me, you'll let me hold your hand"

With the number of days I have home approaching zero, I hung out with my sister yesterday.  We did some errand-y things and had another visit at Anthropologie.  While I will admit that their clothes are not really my style, a bit too feminine and polished, I am absolutely in love with their kitschy things, the design and feel of the actual store, and of course, the window displays.

And my outfit.  Almost exclusively donated, thrifted, or bought with "giveaway freebies".  Top from Goodwill, jeans from a cousin, ClubCouture satchel, Asian iCandy pocket watch necklace.

Happy Halloween

I know it's a bit of overkill, posting two days in a row, but I had to.  It was a perfectly brisk, fall day today and I made a quick cider run in CW before the hours and hours of work and studying I'll be doing for the rest of the week.  Here are some pictures from today:

Flowers :)

Incredibly vibrant tree I came across in CW

Not a black cat, but the pose makes up for it.

Spotted: cows!

Peanut Shoppe: Spiced Maple Pumpkin Dip and animal crackers

Display in the Peanut Shoppe

And of course I had to go into the Candy Shop

Where's the candy corn?!  I was slightly disappointed; three different stores and nowhere to buy bulk candy corn.

Satchel from ClubCouture; it came in the mail earlier last week.  The two of us have been attached at the hip...literally, since I got it.

Lace skirt from target, gray top from Forever 21, scarf from Burlington.

Ready or not, here comes junior year.

Today was the first real day of junior year.  My parents and I drove down Sunday morning and they helped me move in.  After catching up with some friends for a couple days, the first day of classes arrived.

This semester I'm taking two pretty hard chem classes, so I'm anxious to see how I fare with it all.  Sad life of a hard science major: I have 12 hours of lecture and probably 16 hours of lab a week.  And that only counts for 15 credit hours this semester.  Ahhh.

I know it's a failed picture, but I feel like it would've been cool if I had positioned the camera correctly.  Oh well.

Earring display that I made a few weeks ago!  I bought the frame from Goodwill and had some lace saved for DIY projects.  :)

"al amenecer"

Yesterday was the first time in a while that my entire family spent real time together.  My father goes fishing every chance he can and seeing as I'm home, I suggested that the entire family go fishing together.  I really just wanted to make my family take a break from their daily routines and relax with each other.

Our 'fishing hole' is at Kent Narrows, MD.  We've been going there for years and it's always a successful trip.

How the morning began:

But soon enough, everyone was up and ready.

My father, with a couple crab he swept up.

We were packing up when I realized that the crab net was weighted pretty nicely for a couple peggy spins and simple tosses.

Total haul: about 20 crab and 50 or so white and yellow perch.  Recently, we've been giving away the majority of our catch to friends and family.  There's only so much fish we can eat.

Day well spent?  I think yes.

And if you're wondering, I did do more than take pictures and do guard with a fishing net.  A good chunk of those fish were caught by me.

"I haven't felt this alive in a long time"

Last Friday night (no Katy Perry reference intended), me and a friend went to a concert at the Norva.  The main act was Kishi Bashi and the two opening acts were Sea Monster and The Aragona Project.

The venue was absolutely gorgeous.  It's a large open floor, right up to the stage.  My favorite part was the chandelier hanging from the enormous, three story ceilings.  My pictures just don't do it justice.

Opener Sea Monster and the cartoon drawing of me that he did.

Me and the lead singer/guitarist of The Aragona Project.  They were great live, and he was really cute, so I had to get a picture..

My friend, Jack, and Kishi Bashi.  He was beyond amazing; I've never heard anything like him.

Outfit picture I took in a hurry before the concert.  I knotted a large white pocket tee from Goodwill, shorts from Goodwill, some knee high socks, and my old black Vans.  I had to crop out my face; I was doing something crazy with my face.

Post title are lyrics from "Manchester" by Kishi Bashi.  It was amazing hearing this song live.  My family also visited yesterday, and while the weather was pretty dreadful for both Friday and Saturday, this was one of my favorite weekends of the summer so far.  :)
