Downtown Norfolk and Bean There Cafe

This past Sunday, a friend and I decided to make a trip to the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.  When we got there, we discovered that it was closed.  At least for the time being.  As to not waste our drive out to Norfolk, we decided to walk around and discover downtown Norfolk.  The highlights were definitely the architecture throughout the city and this wonderful coffeeshop that we found, called Bean There Cafe.

The city symbol of Norfolk; you'll find mermaids everywhere: painted, bedazzled, the whole works.

Beautiful front of an apartment in the historic district.

Theatre!

One of the many churches.

Yes, you read correctly.  It's an abbey restaurant.

Bean There Cafe!

I got a Little Red Corvette; a white chocolate and raspberry iced mocha.  Refreshingly perfect.

Moral of the story: sometimes closed art museums can lead to finding the real works of art in a city.

Currently listening to: "In a World Like This" The Backstreet Boys (what can I say?  Their new album comes out next Tuesday)

  1. Ah! Sounds like so much fun! We'll have to find a similar place in the Burg since we can't go to Harbour anymore.
