Easy on the Eyes

Three weeks into the school year and I'm glad I decided to spend less time..and money on the dining halls and a meal plan.  A roundabout way of forcing myself to make my own food, haha.  I haven't actually cooked too much yet, but it's definitely a goal for this year.

Also, I came across the blog, Sprouted Kitchen, a few days ago.  It's a food blog geared mainly toward whole foods recipes.  One of the things that struck me most was the gorgeous photography.  The quinoa recipe below is something I definitely want to try, maybe with a few adjustments.

"Brown paper packages tied up with strings..."

Another week has just flown by.  I have no time for anything!  I like my classes a lot, and my labs less so, but by the end of the week, I. am. tired.

So here's a quick post with some pictures I've come across.  Cozy sweaters and socks (not to mention pretty sweet shoes); things that make me happy.  Also slightly autumn-themed because I've already broken out my tights.  :)

"Open my eyes, I see sky"

This afternoon, the weather gods decided to present the campus with a taste of fall weather.  The sun was shining, there was a cool breeze blowing, and the campus was absolutely gorgeous.  This sounds weird, but I was soo distracted by the weather.  I couldn't hold conversations without commenting on the weather and there was no chance of my doing work outdoors.

But that's precisely what my friends and I decided to do; do some schoolwork outside.  Suffice it to say, we ended up just talking and hanging out for two hours.  However, I am beyond ready to say goodbye to summer weather.

I'm definitely at that point in my fashion..timeline where I opt for loose, draped silhouettes.  I'm not really trying to hide anything, but I just feel better in a loose sweater or top.  And tights, definitely tights.

"It's a luscious mix of words and tricks..."

Classes are just beginning and while the workload is pretty light right now, I definitely will be a ticking time bomb of crazy soon enough.  Coming to the sad realization that school comes first this semester, I had to stop my attempts at doing guard this semester.  School first, and sanity's a close second.

I will do my best to keep distractions to a minimum though.  As my IA professor said on the first day of class, "For those of you taking PChem and IA, this is not a good semester to get sick.  Or fall in love."  Well said, professor.

Quick band spotlight for this post, The Shins.  In addition to The Kooks, The Shins were a staple of my summer playlist.  Enjoy a few of my favorites.  :)

Ready or not, here comes junior year.

Today was the first real day of junior year.  My parents and I drove down Sunday morning and they helped me move in.  After catching up with some friends for a couple days, the first day of classes arrived.

This semester I'm taking two pretty hard chem classes, so I'm anxious to see how I fare with it all.  Sad life of a hard science major: I have 12 hours of lecture and probably 16 hours of lab a week.  And that only counts for 15 credit hours this semester.  Ahhh.

I know it's a failed picture, but I feel like it would've been cool if I had positioned the camera correctly.  Oh well.

Earring display that I made a few weeks ago!  I bought the frame from Goodwill and had some lace saved for DIY projects.  :)
